Preferences - Browsers

 

Introduction

This section lets you specify which browsers will be in your browser list. To edit your browser settings:

  1. On the Edit menu, select Preferences submenu.

  2. Select Browsers on the tree view of the Preferences dialog.

A window will be displayed showing each of the external browsers HotDog has been able to locate.

Search For Browsers

For HotDog to be able to preview your documents using an external browser, you have to specify where your external browsers are located. Just click in the and HotDog will attempt to automatically detect all your browsers. Usually this procedure will work first time. If not, you may have to enter the position of the browsers manually using the method described below.

Editing The Browser List

To Add a Browser:

If HotDog can't automatically find your browser - you will have to specify its location manually. To do this:

  1. Click Add.

  2. Enter the description to be linked to the browser. For instance, if you were entering the path to Netscape 2.02 you might describe it as NS ver 2.02.

  3. Enter the path to the browser. Alternatively, click to browse for the location of the browser.

  4. Click OK.

 To Edit a Browser:

  1. Click Edit.

  2. Make any changes you need (such as updating the location of a browser on your hard drive), then click OK.

 To Remove a Browser:

  1. Select the browser in the browser list that you wish to remove.

  2. Click Remove.

 

 TIP

  • You can specify which browser will be used to preview your document when you press the F9 shortcut key by first selecting the browser from the Preview Document option under the File menu. Subsequent presses of F9 will display the document you are editing in the browser you selected.
